Stasis in PvP has been been a hot topic in the Destiny 2 world since Beyond Light dropped in early November. Many players love it, many also hate it. In this video, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on how to balance Stasis in PvP so that it’s more in line with the other subclass options in the crucible.

Yeah, I never use the breakout from freeze, it just costs too much health.
They should increase the animation length of the shatterdive, both when you activate and when you land so you stay longer in the air and longer on the ground after. That way, it's more of a commitment and if you miss, then you can be penalized. Right now, it's way too quick, way too instantaneous and even if you miss, the crystals shattering obscure your view for way too long.
They need to unnerf warlock stasis. Everyone complained about it during week one and two when we didn't even have the other fragments and aspects. Now that we have them all, it's quite clear that nerf was so early and unnecessary, I question why Bungie hasn't returned everything back.
Man it's kinda hard to get better at this game when I can't even fight back ngl

WAY TO MANY players get SUPER STASIS within 30 sec of game start and have it the entire game…… the last game I played that was the straw that broke it for me a player froze our entire team on 1st in about 20 sec….. HE ENDED GAME WITH 57 KILLS !!!!! are you kidding me
I like all the ideas, EXCEPT breakout just simply because it can happen very often that someone may lose a lot of energy when they intended to do another action like Dodge/Rift/Barricade.
Including eveything from the recommendations, I say Nerf max freeze duration a bit (down to 4.5 seconds), buff breakout speed by removing the recovery animation after the breakout happens, buff Silence and Squall's damage a bit to compensate the freeze duration nerf, buff freeze range of Warlock rift to include airborne opponents just because it's the weakest Aspect of the 6 available and because it helps counter Shotgun rushers coming from the sky better.
The Stasis Titan is so ass compared to the other stasis classes, I pretty much zoned out after reading your tweet. It has a slow ass cast time, the secondary attack to freeze is so slow and half the time the shoulder charge doesn't even track onto an enemy directly in front of you and you just zoom past them.
On top of that, its neutral game is ass compared to both Warlock and Hunter. The slide to shatter crystals radius is stupidly small compared to shatter dive, the shoulder charge doesn't kill unless through knock back and they have no particularly effective way to freeze opponents reliably.
The only thing it has going for it is decent mobility through a combination of the slide and shoulder charge. But its significantly weaker then the other classes by far.
If all fo these were implemented, Stasis Titan would no longer be useful. Refreezing with Supers I could see tho.
I also think it's unfair that the Warlock Rift and Hunter Dodge have a slow effect but not the Titan Barricade 🤔
Hunters need a nerf badly in pvp there stastis class is broken and it becomes how broken it is when mayhem is on the pvp playlist

I think we should stop nerfing abilities, in fact id rather us go back to D1 ability levels like one shot stickys. This game is never gonna be a competitive shooter, you want that go play CoD. And you talk about "preserving diversity" in the crucible when of the top 10 weapons being used 7 of them are hand cannons, super diverse.
It is broken
You pretty much hit on all the important sticking points for Stasis in PVP right now but I might go one farther and suggest that the Warlock super be looked at again also. I play a lot of Titan and Warlock and the Warlock super is just easy kills compared to the Titan which actually has some nuance and skill required to get the most out of it. Freeze with the staff and then hit one button and anything within a radius just dies instantly with, again, no room for counter play. Not only is it an incredibly easy Super to get a lot of value out of it also happens to be fairly brainless and un-fun as compared to the Titan super.
I don't entirely agree with your points in reducing the availabilty of point-blank killing potential because it's the only thing keeping Shotguns in check right now

These all sound like great points! I literally have gotten to the point where I can not support Bungie because Stasis is so overpowered.
I'm done supporting companies that think the way to sell things is to make the product broken their sandbox.
I don't have enough friends to play the Raid, and so I was already weary of whether or not the price reflected the value of the content I would receive.
Additionally; I hate that Nightfalls are blocked off to "free to play" players when it's a Beyond Light strike. I have friends who can't afford to just outright buy these expansions immediately, this would mean that part of my fireteam wouldn't even be able to join me.
So in essence, the way I play the game is to grind PVE gear to grind PVP gear. Then I try to use PVP as my end goal. At this time, Stasis is just incredibly frustrating. It doesn't feel like Light subclasses stack well against it, and that makes no sense to me. It was the last straw.
I hope Stasis one day becomes a bit mroe equal to the Light subclasses. The question is whether or not they listen to their community, though. I have a feeling that it's no.

Of course a hunter main would defend the mechanics of a hunter. You don't get a chance to react effectively. Almost always you can react to the noise of the activation or you can just overall bait it out. The issue is that regardless of that, the hunter is going to come crashing down and destroying at least 1 person. Of course standing behind a wall to bait with a fellwinters isn't exactly enticing gameplay either.
They could either (1) do a division thing where pvp had separate values compared to pve and "fix" the time to freeze or just overall properties.
They could also (2) restrict certain stasis abilities or not allow a combination of abilities within crucible while maintaining all of your pve abilities (think variations from mortal kombat)
I'm not a huge fan of this subclass anyway, so I don't care about what happens to it. It's obvious that jumping, throwing a grenade and crashing down and being able to hit a warlock who dashed out of that area, is obnoxious– though doing that to 12 enemies in pve is very fun.
I rlly hope bungie adds a playlist that has no supers no abilities. Pure gun skill, it would be really refreshing to see.
i just think it's cute bungie nerfed stasis warlock into the dirt but leaves hunter shatter dive and mach 20 titan untouched…kinda crazy.

Hunter stasis need to Tone down its too powerful in the PVP Stasis hunter needs to be nerved down so it is In the same alignment as the other stasis subclass hunter are nightmare Crucible PvP
I don't entirely agree with your opinion on behemoth considering spectral blades is still stupid strong 2 years later with the second highest hyper armor and light attack spam that doesn't really have an animation compared to behemoth and also spectral let's you go invis, which negates any and all aim assist and tracking, so no

For the slow, if the effects of it increased with each stack, that would make more sense, because atm, the stacks function as a "timer", instead of an indication of how slow you are

Shatter Dive simply has to go. No way should a play have a quick ability that one-hit players that otherwise were not even hit.
All of these are great suggestions. I would like to see the damage resist of shatterdive reduced from 45% to maybe 25 or 35, it just feels to tanky right now. The "thawed" feature is an interesting concept, but I think 10 seconds is way too long, especially with short some of the freezes are. I would also like to see the freeze time normalized at 2 seconds. This would be a slight increase for the coldsnap and warlock melee, but a hefty nerf for the other methods.

I hate stasis.
I started playing D2 shortly before stasis got in to the game and even though I allready had problems with understanding what is going on I now have no frking overview anymore. I dont know wich ice belongs to what team.
The worst part of it all is that stasis gets access to something I dont: hard CC
And there is absolutly no trade-off for taking stasis. You want CC: Take stasis You want damage: stasis. You want good movement: guess what? STASIS!
And its the only element yoh cant get defensive mods against.
Why not give other elements some counterplay in their abilities?
Give the warlock a freeze resistence on their riffs or something.
Having hard-CC hidden behind a paywall is allready frustrating, but that I am plain garbage if I take an element I think is cool and fun is really saddening and it makes it really hard to get good at the game.

I disagree with most of what you stated in this video, you want to keep the problems stasis has, but nerf the incoming damage.. That won't change anything when they got so much time to land 1 more bullet.
They need to fix the freeze duration, along with getting frozen again.

What made destiny 1 great was we had logical people who gave Bungie easy options to change and implement the game.
Destiny 2 is a mess and the idea's given honestly just ruin the game more. (usually)
They will always look for the easiest options, they are not going to re-create an entire subclass on how 1 mechanic works.
Every new class that comes into a game is going to be busted as they want everyone to try the new content or mechanics/weapons.
They know who is using the most overused weapons and classes and given them nerfs with little to no reason behind them.
Slow the enemies down, vacuum the enemies it is fine. Make it look like the matrix for all I care.
But don't freeze them for 3-4 seconds completely in a 1 v 1 situation inside PVP.
If a dawn blade could be slowed or vacuumed for 2.2 seconds in Icarus dash than frozen it would make stasis a strong zoning/slow tool.
The point of stasis is to out move your opponents.. The no skill freeze makes a fast paced FPS game like Destiny 2 compared to Destiny 1 a joke with frame rates going uncapped.

If we took True vanguards suggestion, where you dont get frozen again with the cooldown.
And made enemies "slowed" instead for the damage stasis can do in PVP.
It would make Destiny 2 stasis more fun to watch and play as for its strengths, keeping what it already has.
I dont think any top player wants complete freezing lasting more than 2 seconds, I feel supers however earn the time to acquire to freeze an opponent.
I can only agree that supers should receive reduced damage from stasis.
I think it would be better to bring the light based Classes up to Stasis level. Stasis is way more fun to play cause you actually feel powerful

Literally make these abilities do one thing. Either slow you down, freeze you or pull you in, why the fucking hell does it have to do all three? After what happened to sleeper I’m very scared for stasis in pve.
Why not just bring aspects to light subclasses i think they need some tuning not statis necessarily
