Destiny 2 Beyond Light – Solo Descent Raid Encounter – Deep Stone Crypt Raid / Solo Third Encounter Prevent Europa’s Destruction / How To Solo Descent / Solo Descent Destiny 2. Just a video showing my solo clear of the Descent encounter in the new Deep Stone Crypt Raid, being done completely solo and finishing the entirety of a Deep Stone Crypt solo clear now. Details below.

First and foremost, full credit to VoteforShifu who was the first to get this done and the overall strategy here. While I used a slightly different approach, the fundamentals were from their run. So full credit to him. The original videos can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lrps_8SfU4 & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04WkXtimpqA

As for my video here, I can confidently say that this is the most difficult solo challenge in the entire history of Destiny 2 – by far. Nothing has really come close to this at all, and that’s after having done every single solo challenge the game has had to offer. You have to be absolutely perfect with everything on this, and there’s so many things to keep track of that can go wrong. I spent countless hours testing and adjusting the original strategy to make it as consistent as you can see here. It may not look all that difficult from the video, but it definitely is.

The best thing about this though and what makes it stand above everything else in my eyes, is there’s hardly any RNG involved to it. It’s just all about how you play and approach it, which I enjoyed a lot. Sure there’s a couple of annoying things that seem a little out of your control (the odd time the balls don’t despawn after joining allies, or the ball doesn’t pick up despite holding it down and it knocks you out of joining allies), but otherwise it’s all up to you.

As a basic strategy explanation, you have to deposit 18 cores to get the clear here. Every round 3 cores spawn. So every round you pick up Suppressor, stun Taniks, go to the right side and push an enemy on top of the core that spawns there, use the Joining Allies Finisher glitch on top of the ball, and pick it up if it spawns. This will despawn that one, and the middle two should go naturally. Leaving you to pick up the left one and run that to the middle, surviving the process and repeating it 18 or more times.

For the differences to the original strategy, these were adjustments I made after wiping to various different situations. First was just ignoring Operator completely. The double slam was way too risky at times and would cause a lot of wipes, so I just left that completely. This allowed me to keep one of the 3 Majors off the field too, meaning they couldn’t potentially ruin the Joining Allies either. The downside is that it significantly prolongs the fight, and there’s a lot more chance of wasted rounds. But the upsides made it much more consistent for enemy positions and surviving.

I used different timing for the Karnstein healing, instead of using it to deposit the core I’d use it while stunning Taniks instead. This removed the threat during that stage, along with keeping me alive during the Joining Allies. The downside is that I didn’t have the healing for the deposit anymore, but the back path I took didn’t need it and would allow much safer deposits.

Every round I’d clear all of the enemies on the right side, so they’d all respawn at full health and not accidentally kill one. I also went without any Warmind Cells so I could use the SMG during the Joining Allies to push enemies back without accidentally spawning a Warmind Cell and causing a wipe.

I’d also wait on top of the left stun placing to position enemies (and ideally the boss) where I wanted them to be. It gives you some downtime during the fight, but I also found the boss would teleport significantly less if you waited up here every round.

Overall I’m very happy to get this done, and it’s one of the very few Destiny challenges I’ve been actually satisfied to complete in a long time. I only started attempts on this 2 days after reset this week, as I was worried they’re going to fix the Joining Allies with the new season. So I’m very happy to have finished it before then. I’ll also have a full Solo Deep Stone Crypt Raid uploaded to the channel sometime soon, as I’ve now got all 4 encounters completed with strategies that worked all at the same time.

Lastly, I’m not sure how much influence this had on VoteforShifu’s strategy, but Tazaroc uploaded an alternate but similar strategy a while ago, to credit to him too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxUWJMpDYdI

  1. Please see the description for more details, and full credit to VoteforShifu who was the first to get this done. Their original video can be found in the description also 🙂
This also means the entire Solo Deep Stone Crypt Raid is now done on the same working strategies. See the links below, and I'll have a full video compiling them all up sometime soon.

^ this method still works the same. You do less damage now with the Lament nerf, meaning you'll need to do extra damage phases. You also have to watch more carefully to see the health bar moving (as it no longer has the little segment). But the fundamental strategy is exactly the same and still working, which I've tested.

  2. Thanks for the video, but also for the perfect timeing of the upload. I don't have any reason to log in before the new season goes live, but I wanted something to watch other than streamers droning on about… well, whatever they drone on about. Double thumbs up from me.
