Destiny 2: Beyond Light – Dialogue Differences (Veteran/Class/Race)

The dialogue in Beyond Light seems a little bugged, but I was able to get a fair bit of veteran lines, though not as much as during the Shadowkeep campaign. I’ve also included the unique class dialogue from the New Light campaign because I thought you folks might be interested in that.

0:00 – Beyond Light Campaign
1:43 – Exploring Europa
3:06 – Old Strikes
4:00 – New Light
5:44 – Exo Specific Lines

  1. Funny thing is that some of the dialogues are for veterans from only D2 and some of them (like "young wolf") only for veterans from D1. I wounder what AI of the script will say when he notice full fire time with exo, without exo and mixed.

  2. So…. I'm annoyed. I got a PC account before cross save so I have what I'm calling Tier 2 vet dialog (the one that excludes my actions in Destiny 1 but knows of the ones in Destiny 2) and I hate that. Why cant we choose which one we want. Ive been asking to be called young wolf, hivebane and all that for ages but bungie cant make it a simple slider in the settings menu, its so dumb that I get "dumbed down dialog."

  3. The last one about who we were before is really interesting. I barely ever think about it but now that Bungie said it I can't stop thinking about it. It would be cool if Bungie had the ghost say more personal stuff like that in the future

  4. The most memorable one for me was when I was playing forsaken and Petra called me cousin. Played through forsaken as an awoken hunter so it was particularly resonant.

  6. in beyond light case what is considered "veteran" cause i am new light (1 year playing aprox, and i had most of the "new" dialogs but i got some "veteran" dialogs so i was a little confused, but maybe it was a 1st day bug?

  7. So i have this weird thing where i hear both newbie and veteran dialogue and yes, i am a young wolf.
And oh yeah, i did hear a line of dialogue from phylaks saying that i have "challenged erameskel before" even before i completed the campaign. Any ideas why?

  8. It's interesting that Bungie incorporates those little details being Exo or biological still, being Hunter when regarding Cayde-6, a Warlock regarding Ikora, a Titan regarding Zavala. Yet that's the extent of it, there's no difference otherwise and there could have been so much potential.

Awoken could have been revived near the Dreaming city, a place shrouded in mystery for all of the first game, or along the desolate field of shattered rocks of the Tangled Shore. Their welcoming could have been Mara Sov and Uldren in Destiny 1 and eventually made their way to Earth through different campaign missions.

Humans could have started in a number of places dependent on what class they picked. Warlocks starting on Io, Titans on Earth, Hunters on the Moon or perhaps Mars, anywhere.

Exo's could have started in the Exo Bray labs, awoken to a recording from Clovis Bray himself regarding their new lives. Given tasks recorded by him until their Ghost piques their interest in going to Earth, to the tower, the Vanguard.

Instead we all awaken on a destroyed highway leading into a gate in Old Russia, given no more than a quick run down of what's going on and that we should keep moving by a floating lightbulb. We're told only that we were there for one reason or another and that's it.

I often wonder what happened to Bungie's impeccable storytelling. Destiny was kind of a bust and barely got any better in the second game imo.

  9. The idea of veteran dialogue has always been really cool to me, but it bugs me they don't have it as a toggle in the menu. Plenty of us started on console with D1 and moved to the PC version of D2 at launch, and it really sucks being treated like a "new player" and missing out on all this stuff.

  10. Is the dialogue proccing weirdly for anyone else? Sometimes the game thinks I’m a veteran, sometimes that forgets, sometimes the Drifter says I’m the poster child for Stasis even when I’m not using that, sometimes characters think my female characters are male and vice versa, sometimes Ghost asks the line about Exos for non-Exos…

  11. The veteran lines are nice, but I can't be the only one who appreciates the class specific lines for the New Light quests. It makes the choice between the three feel so much more personal. The blueberries playing through it for the first time may not really appreciate it now, but they will some day.

  12. I wish there was a way to register that you played D1 if you play on PC now, I’ve been playing since year 1 and it sucks it feels weird that the NPCs treat me as if I wasn’t there for anything

  13. This Veteran dialogue still isn’t working properly which as a veteran is kinda sad, I didn’t get the first dialogue as veteran but the second one shown I did get as a veteran one for example which is kind of weird
