As you’ve probably seen, Beyond Light has been delayed to November 10th, originally slated for September 22nd. We’ll briefly touch on the delay and also another topic that I recently discussed on my livestream (twitch.tv/Datto), and that is: Do I think that Lightfall will be the end of the Destiny franchise? My answer is no and I explain why in the video.

Seeing a lot of Halo comments. I'm not really sure the two are the same scenario. Bungie had to give up the rights to Halo in order to split from Microsoft, it was under Microsoft's ownership. Regardless, Halo is STILL a franchise all these years later, thus still under the category of a franchise that has not stopped development, it is still a profitable IP. Bungie owns Destiny now, they got to keep the rights when they split with Activision. But if we still want to argue it, then yes, Halo is one example, but I don't know if that makes them the rule either way.

Tbh though there's probably at least 5 more species more powerful than the darkness and atleast 1000 more going up in power in a never ending loop, if thats what bungie has to do to keep Destiny alive. I doubt they would have to resort to that tho, and even after Savathun, there's still the rest of the hive worm gods and what if we killed a Leviathan?I don't really see destiny running out of content

Destiny will keep going because of the die hard fans who have come to accept and embrace every microtransaction put in. This is why FO76 is still alive even after its been absolutely shit on by the general gaming community.

Bungie has compared destiny to WoW, so what if lightfall begins the split of the playerbase between the light and the dark and you choose a side. Like the horde and the alliance in WoW!

Honestly it getting delayed doesn't bother me. I'd rather them take their time then rush and ask get an unfinished product.

Would be interested to see Datto's take on 14. Recently quit it myself, since tanking became mindless.
The thing is, xivu aurath is still out there, and the three left worn Gods, the entirety of the hive homeworld exists, the traitor daughter of calus is still in torobatl, and the vex are still consuming our solar system and the universe, there is a lot of stuff to build on so I think lightfall is not the end

I think lightfall will be the beginning where the darkness wins, then the next fall expansion is surviving the worlds of darkness, and the next fall expansion is a comeback against the darkness, and eventually beating it. That's my theory
Welp, I’m kinda hoping it is the end. I feel like it should just be finished, this would be a really good ending, I mean these 3 DLCs are the most important DLCs. I wouldn’t be mad at all if it ended with this. Plus I want a new product from bungie where they don’t cut content to release it as dlc for a cash grab

Okay well I can name SW: Galaxies which has no ties to the EA SW games, the rare breed w/o MTX, despite it being older than many other games and/or user systems by modern gaming standards. It's a 2002 era game originally shutdown by SOE but that was for the servers… technically speaking, the game didn't "die" or "end" as the dev felt it to split off and get the rights to the game itself even when Lucas Art isn't persay around anymore… the game is being ran due to the interest of the game even for it's "niche", the dev didn't want to give up on the game which is why they have donations pools afaik. In this case, one of the few games as services "being finished" ? tho the dev don't see that keen on the idea of finish, to me that's more of the modern gaming service philosophy.

Should destiny 3 become a thing after light fall, I would hope it would be sort of a prequel game, where we could go back and see what life was like for a guardian during the dark age early days of the city, maybe even allow us to play through the perspective of someone like felwinter or possibly even shaxx
Light fall can’t be the end bc they promised 10 year not 6 years.
Dark Souls
There’s no chance at fixing what’s broke that quickly. Likely they’ve been slaving away just to get the content on the screen. Equally likely they’ve finally started testing and it’s a disaster. So it’ll still be a disaster in November, just slightly less so.
We can only hope that the 2022 expansion Lightfall is the last chapter for Destiny 2.

At least now we know Microsoft negated the lost Bungie may experience due to the game pass deal and new console hype. Delaying the release for more new console prep makes sense now.

I have a theory, maybe lightfall storyline will have saint-14 involved in it and us gaurdians. And you know in the Season of Dawn quests that has a mission where saint-14 takes us to a grave that belongs to us, that’s backgrounded with white-dark-grey colors, same with the lightfall preview picture. Maybe us gaurdians will die in some of an event of fighting some enemy in the storyline of Lightfall. I could be dead wrong but idk.

Bungie cannot be independent, it feels like they are terrible in the financial side. Joining Activision was a terrible mistake but they received the money they needed.

omg it would be amazing if by 2023 we were full blown dark guardian because of some crazy shit in lightfall that sent us over the edge. If you watch the lightfall reveal the planet in the background shifts from white to black i reckon its going to be entirely around the darkness maybe we will finally fight some dark enemies or see what it actually looks like!
