Since the launch of Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Beyond Light, the Crucible player base has been exposed to perhaps the most controversial gameplay element that the franchise has ever seen: Stasis. From being frozen in place for seconds at a time, to being slowed to the point that you can no longer shoot straight, to one-shotting grenade combos, to Supers with more damage resistance than any in Destiny’s history, there are a myriad of problems. But things don’t have to stay this way. In this video, I’m going to talk about EVERYTHING Stasis-related: freezing, slowing, grenades, fragments, melees, aspects, and Supers. There is a path forward to balancing Stasis for the Crucible, while preserving its power in the PvE Sandbox. I’m going to do my best to present to you how I would balance Stasis, and recommend changes that I think everyone could agree on. Let’s get to it!

There needs to be a cool down for shatter dive , like come on there’s one for a slide for goodness sake lol

I gave up on D2 a while ago, but I've watched all of your videos so far – you do an excellent job at vocalizing exactly what the community wants from Destiny and you've earned my sub, gonna tell all my buddies about this channel for sure
My only issue is the helmet idea because the mask was clearly made for this purpose and if it can only teleport then why limit it to only stasis? You'd need to let it be used on other subclasses at that point or it's gonna fall out of pvp quickly cause why blink when I can just slow u then dodge to freeze you? You can lower the freeze range so you'd need to be closer for it to activate
From almost exclusively pve player: stasis isnt super important or over tuned in pve. Nor is it exclusively fun to use except for a few movement things not entirely unique to stasis. Long story short, stasis isnt super important to me so if it makes the game better by nerfing it, so be it.
its easier than bungie thinks. remove stasis as a whole and give everyone free stuff
Or they could give other subclasses debuff abilities. Give nightstalkers 2 smokes. Give warlock a stun melee and a cuncussion hammer to Titans these obviously wouldn’t deal as much damage as the do now. Give arcbolt grenades the same stun as warlock melee, vortex nades should suck people in and slow the enemies like an actual vortex, and the titan straight line grendade should launch people up in the air
bungie wont nerf stassis cause that means less people will need to buy the DLC; since its broken everyone will rush to buy it
he's trying to kill hunter revenant. im all for toning it down but i might as well go back to arcstrider with these changes. squall has a 12m detonation radius. 12m in destiny is not a large distance. with his proposed changes squall doesnt have a chance unless you make both kamas come out at once and make the tornado kill almost instantly if touched. like were talking about a super here. he took the super out of it. actually he took the crowd control out of stasis. you might as well just rework the whole damn thing tbh. take out freezing and slow all together and just make it a forge class. i can throw up ice walls together and make me an igloo and sing koombya with my friends. lots of things i agree with but the freezing changes make revenant not worth using to be honest. hopefully the new aspect is useful enough to replace shatterdive since that will be useless as hell without any DR. the whole point was so that we could get to the ground fast and its not difficult to land aim assisted shots on even a ballistic slam titan so i dont get that change either. im cool with the 1 damage thing though. it just feels a little heavy handed in the name is "skill" and not thought out enough in the name of "brain skill" which is what crowd control abilities promote. for anyone who has an issue with that last sentence what are AoE grenades for again? i like having the ability to big brain people who get over zealous. that was the fun of it for me, i can force a primary engagement which is what a lot of us have been asking for. its a direct counter to ape culture which seems is the basis for a lot of stasis nerf claim. I do understand where people come from with the glacial nade thing and shatterdive but all i have to that is, "good" players have multiple angles already so even if one persono gets shatterdived you can clean up easy. we all die in a video game and deaths in general are annoying, idk why you think you deserve a kill because you put damage in and pushed? maybe hit all your shots next time. im ranting at this point. good video but too heavy handed in the name of "MuH gUn SkiLl"
Imo I feel like hunter shatter dive should have a cool down since all other movement abilities have cooldowns and the hunter silence freeze radius should be reduced by at least a couple few meters. I've been behind corners and icarus dashing for my life and it's still freezes me. Its kinda ridiculous.
I agree with most, except the dust field suck range to 5 meters (6m w/mod) . Warlocks shatter range by half and have it measure line of sight distance and not radius on activation
The only thing wrong with this is the number of things that simply don't work in PvP. It makes the game inconsistent between PvE and PvP (eg the behemoth super simply not having an ability in PvP). Your abilities should work the same in PvP as they do in PvE – I might suggest increasing the number of stacks required to freeze a player to 12 or 15, keeping most of the regular freeze mechanics, but things like the behemoth activation would slow instead of freeze

I have learned so much about stasis from this vid and I think Bungie really needs to see this and take your suggestions into consideration. I really feel lke a lot of people would agree with you 100% which I personally do. Plus with a change like this i can finally screw around with other subclasses so i don't have to stick with Revenant all the time in PvP i miss playing middle tree Nightstalker but I the only time I can actually do something is use stasis since so many people are using it. It would be such a breath of fresh air if Bungie took this vid into consderation. Oh, you also earned a sub btw 🙂 keep up this content.
I agree with all your suggestions except I’d still change a couple things. Cryoclasm should have a cool down timer after each slide but the time should be reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds. The hunter only needs 1 melee charge or each thrown shard only does a stack of 4 slow against pvp targets. If you get hit by both of them you’d only be slowed x8 instead of frozen, and if they dodge then throw one at you you’d only be slowed x9 instead of frozen. Freezing is a very powerful ability that shouldn’t be as easy to do as it is.
Mask of Bakris should cancel every bonus affect hunters get from dodging. No slowing, no reloading weapons, no going invisible, no restoring melee energy, nothing. It’s trading those abilities for a long distance teleport.
I agree so far, but where is the shatterdive cooldown after using it two times?! Like Icarus dash or the stasis titan slide, why does a slide have a 3 second cooldown, but not a completely new move?
I liked all that. The only things I feel like you missed was the duration of behemoth should probably be reduced or make the dash strike use more energy. And more details on how winters wrath would work w the new changes to freeze

I think being frozen by a pve enemy should still have the old timer of being frozen, cuz honestly it feels like stasis using bosses pose no threat rn
