New #Destiny2 video, going over the delay to Destiny 2: Beyond Light in more detail. What seemed like a pretty problematic delay at time time it was announced, now looks like a huge move to align Destiny 2 to Next Gen Consoles, Specifically the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S! Could this have lowkey been one of the best moves to make? #BeyondLight #Destiny2News

  1. I guess bungie delayed beyond light because they wanted to be a launch title for the next gen consoles, not because of xbox only. Bungie always launched destiny expansions on tuesdays. They definetively picked the launch week of the new consoles on purpose. But it was obvious, they would also pick a tuesday, like they always have done. Following your logic, Microsoft chose the tuesday for launch because of beyond light. And that seems like a far fetch. Occam's razor hints more to my theory.

  2. …but Destiny 2 is already free on the Xbox Store and on Steam… What are you talking about? And if they add it to Game Pass with ALL of the expansions, get ready for play-to-win. Because if Bungie can no longer make money from the game itself AT ALL, it's gonna become play-to-win faster than you can say "cash grab".

  3. I think Bungie just wanted to share the Marine Corps birthday. I mean, nothing says, “excellence” like the USMC. Why not associate yourself with it. 😉

  4. I work at a game studio. Games are not usually delayed for console launches, because those sometimes also get delayed. Bungie is NOT a part of Microsoft, so they won't have any reason to wait for Microsoft's launch.
Likely the delay was going to happen due to content ballooning, and then Covid hits and everyone at the studio has to relocate their work to home. This literally took a month for game studios to acclimate and adapt to communication, tech restraints, etc. Work productivity was like 25% for a month, and since then has been around 75-95% of usual effectiveness. Anyone who tells you a studio that primarily worked onsite is working at 100% capacity WFH is being optimistic.
It is more surprising when a game has NOT been delayed this year.

  5. ya i have ps4 so them doing it was just a big let down and make me not want to buy it next time since they sold out like that. nope.. it was dumb move for them to do.. all i know with this delayed there better be no bugs since they have had all this time to work out that stuff and let there fans down with moving the date.

  6. I'd have agreed with you 2 weeks ago but with the graphical update being delayed, it makes sense that Bungie really did need to delay and matching it with next gen releases made sense

  7. Throwing my own tinfoil hat into the ring this might add weight to the rumour that Microsoft are going to obtain Bungie like they did Bethesda and Destiny 3 will be Microsoft exclusive.

  8. Also keep in mind it could have been coincidence, when new products launch its usually on a Tuesday. Game launches, consoles, movies, etc. all on Tuesday. November 10 is a Tuesday. Some choose to go for a Friday release like movie premieres like PlayStation. So it could be purely up to chance
