In this video I talk about the Exotic Hand Cannon, Sunshot’s range buff it unexpectedly received in Destiny 2 Beyond Light with it’s Hand Cannon Sandbox changes. I talk about the value of Sunshot, how its far less common in the meta than I would’ve expected, and some reasons as to why it is very viable – but not completely dominating.

Looks like I’m in the minority as it’s one of my fave exotics on the game. Trash mobs beware!
Its damage is just so poor because its split between the bullet and explosion so it does a bit more then half the damage
I dotb know. It just feels wonky to me on consile. I just cant get headshots for the life of me and recoil is weird. Also, kinetic specials just rule now
I dotb know what it is but I could ne er hit headshots on thorn and ace before but now it is so easy. I wonder if it is intistic perk on architype
Two things:
sunshot recoil animation+ explosive flash makes it really hard to aim and see target
Gun just feels like it misses shots some times, I get that AA is a part of that but if that were the case then why isn’t this something I experience with every other HC? None of the 120s 140s or 180s I’ve used experience thus
People in the comments talking about "muzzle flash" and "horrible iron sights" when the true problem is this gun has the tendency to slide across a target like BUTTER. That aim assist is absolutely heart wrenching when Sunshot is literally your favorite exotic hand cannon in the game til they bring back The First Curse (not happening)
What is RPM?
For me it’s the barrel blocking the reticule making it hard to see where I’m shooting
Sunshot is cool and all, but no mod slot, energy weapon(can't use felwinters/cqc/adored/truthteller) and my dire with snapshot + rangefinder just feels too crisp to change
Sunshot just feels like your shooting small flaming pebbles tbh which doesn't feel like your hitting enemys hard enough
If we could put icarus on exotic hand cannons it would be a blessing. I've become so used to my movement and staying in the air for fights that anything without icarus grip just feels like it's missing.
Dude. You sounded so much like SirD in this video. Who can agree with me?
Unpopular opinion: LH and NF should've stayed a 150 HC so that ppl have an incentive to grind for ascendant shards and enhancement shards. Now I hear you "bUt It WoUlD bE tOo Op" well go and cry me a river. If you're going through hell to get a weapon you REALLY want, go get it. Bungie needs to game test this shit so ppl won't bitch about it in the first place. Bungie needs to think about "Hmm if we add this, what toll will it make if we nerf it." So before releasing a gun they barely tested to destiny, let ppl bitch about it and complain it, and then nerf it, it'll only make fans hate the game even more. TO SUPPORT MY CLAIM, if diehard crucible PVP players get a weapon that they had to go through HELL AND BACK SEVERAL TIMES and knowing that it'll inevitably be nerfed, it makes people lose the incentive to grind things in the first place. That's is the mistake Bungie is making with these crucible, vanguard, etc quests. To add insult to injury, they make it extremely grindy, but that is Bungie at its core and they ain't gonna do shit to balance out grind/reward exotics and weapons and shit. This was my rant on Bungie releasing unnecessarily overpowered shit and nerfing it afterwards, causing people to ditch the game entirely.
Felwinter> sunshot this is why it aint meta
This is good to hear. I was using sunshot a ton before. Just haven't tried it since and haven't really been playing so much pvp yet. I feel like most people are just trying new stuff
Console fov stops me from using it lol, hopefully next gen is upping the fov so i can use it
I've always loved sunshot. I don't use it for one reason: I can't pair it with my favorite special weapons. Fellwinter's, adored, telesto, and chaperone are all out.
I use it so much in PVE and its my go to for my warmind cell build. It’s stupid good, I’m glad people sleep on it
reason why isnt being used that much coz….not all have catalyst for it and without its not that great I guess. I dont have it aswell yet -.-
What shader do you use??
I have to say it Hand cannons are bad this season the meta is 1. Pulse rifles 2. Scout rifles 3. Auto rifles 4. Lol Surprisingly Bows
Why isn't it being used?
Because it's the fucking Sunshot.
Game barely takes any skill at its core. Before actual skill comes into play, first its whether you're using a TV or a monitor, than whether you're using an elite controller or not. Then it's how your armor is set up and then what weapons you're using. After all that it comes down to personal skill.
Now with stasis actual skill comes utterly last, people just freeze you and get the brainless kill.
People use whatever is meta because that's what's best, people rely on the weapon instead of skill. This game isnt hard to actually get good at. And once you have a monitor and nodded controller you're gonna outplay most people. I mean in play with a normal controller and a tv with a 2.1 trials kd and still get outplayed by people with the same KD who are using a monitor and elite.
Wait, you mean to tell me all this time I could have been blaming the aim assist instead of my own shit skill? Damn
Aim assist/bullet magnetism, should be removed from PC. Ranges extended across the board. Also remove bloom.
Make it a precision shooting game, watch how many players stop playing, because they are actually shit at aiming, and need those crutches.
It's because it's a floppy, chunky, annoying recoil, etc. I don't like how it looks or feels when using it. Otherwise it would be the best in the game pretty much
As some one who stopped playing d2 during year 3 but came back for year 4, i had no idea what the meta was. Still dont really know but hey, this seems like a good option over all the random rolls hc ive gotten since comming back. Thanks for the vid.
This gun is actually amazing for aim training on console for hand cannons. It’s got the signature smack you in the face recoil pattern, but a lower aim assist value, which will literally force you to pace your shots, making you better every time you go back to it.
It’s great! Love to pair it with Blasphemer
I think a lot of people still don't realise that sunshot received any benefit from the handcannon changes, which also helps explain why so few people are using it
You don't see it a lot because you can't pair it with felwinters lie
It has nothing to do with how good or bad Sunshot is……people can’t put away the Felwinter’s so why would they sacrifice that slot. Plain and simple
is it still a lightweight frame?
I love sunshot if you take youre time to master is its one of the best weapons on the game.
Nah people
Using 120s cause the their felwinters
Agree with the consistency. The reason why 600 autos felt so good last season was the spastic ttk coupled with their consistency of scoring at least near the optimal ttk was a powerful combo. Loving the way 120 HCs and scout are feeling this season though
The visual recoil is insane and I can never seem to hit what I'm aiming at after the first shot. The gun kicks up and to the right like a mule. The flaming iron sights don't help with follow up shots either.
Drewsky, I honestly missed the first 3 minutes of this video because of how nasty you are… I used to think I’d hate to go up against cross… not anymore. You are the fear of the crucible.
I got the catalyst done and I’m on console and I’ve gotten the recoil down, it feels good with my astral since I don’t have felwinter I don’t run ace, hawk, or 120s to much
It’s the visual design of the weapon. It takes up the full space of the form that everything else sculpts within. This makes almost everything else more appealing, on a nearly invisible level.
I just want to see what I’m shooting man
Why aren’t people using it? Simple! They can’t aim worth a shit!
Now with the 120 change that went up on the twab …. I wonder what sun shot is gonna look like now
Youtubers: Sun shot has amazing range, handling, rate of fire, and other stats. Why is no one using it?
Also youtubers: (never uses anything other than kinetic 120 and felwinters)
I've wanted this gun for a long time and I actually thought warlocks couldn't get lol but now that I finally got it yesterday idk how to about this gun smh I see youtubers go crazy with it but for me the damage drop off is frustrating🤦🏾♂️ im gettin terrorized by the same opposing over and over😭😭😭 I need that catalyst fast because I don't want to end up vaulting this
