In this video I break down the mechanics of the shatterdive hunter aspect, and glacier grenades on the stasis revenant subclass in Destiny 2 Beyond Light.

  1. Remember what I said within the first 2 minutes pls, lets be logical together meaning whether you think its OP or not, lets look at some facts before we decide on our stance. I see many comments about me "defending" this, I don't quite understand how that is while I quite literally at the end of the video say I think this is too strong and needs to be adjusted, here's how I think it should be adjusted.

  2. Shatter dive needs a cool down, the whisper of fissure in terms of additional damage needs to be reduced. The fact that a grenade plus a movement combo can one hit supers even in a ward of dawn is overpowered no matter how you look at it. The risk is low when a hunter with strafe jump comes down, you have no time to react to the combo and there is zero counter play.

  3. Listening to 4 people including you on Firing Range say that it was overpowered and then Mercules saying it wasnt cracked me up. I love Merc, listen to his podcast every week but he has a massive bias and whatever he's currently using isnt OP haha. I mean the man has an erentil with 8 thousand kills hahah.

  4. Man how many weeks are we in vs how long it took to nerf the warlock melee to where it was underwhelming? And hunters have this bs? You guys do realize theres a thing called demolitionist on almost every weopon, vs monty carlo taking an exotic slot, and theres absolutely no penalty to this ability besides a missing grenade that can be earned back in multiple ways, on top of bakris being the most busted exotic rn outside wormhusk and oem…. i mean can one warlock melee get 3 to 5 instant multie kills for free??? Nope not even close

  5. Honestly, as a Warlock main, I have been frequently annoyed by being shatterdived, especially since we don't have an inherent shatter ability. However, I feel that more than the ability itself, it's the map designs and general play styles that make it hard to deal with, especially in 6v6 modes. With maps like Anomaly and Exodus Blue, it can be very hard to track everyone else unless you stick to a very specific play style, so people are going to get shatterdived a lot from around corners or while capping zones. In contrast, if we had more maps like Equinox or Widow's Court, this would be much less of an issue. Yes, shatterdive may be a little overpowered and needs tuning, but what we need more is some map variety so that light classes have some breathing space. Also, shattering should not be a legit way of shutting down supers, that needs to be dealt with.

  6. I think it's just something you have to think about when playing. If you keep your enemies at range this combo is useless. It is the absolute direct counter to shotgun rushers though, which seems to be about 95% of the community, hence why this seems to be such 'toxic' issue to discuss.

  7. I like the 50dmg slam, it helps me finish shotgun users when they are weak and crouching behind stuff. The whole subclass, grenades, slam etc. is just a big anti shotgun build and Im going to keep using it for that reason alone.
The fissure should get a nerf, maybe the range but not the dmg, so you still could fight supers if your grenade is on point.

  8. Oh my lord, the fact that hunters have 1 kinda good thing is so offensive to People.

Nobody cares about infinite flight warlocks with Jotun, nobody cares that titans have an easy Instant death melee on any subclass other then stasis as well as the most awesome Mobility on stasis, which happens to be kinda perfect for current shotty meta.

What do hunters have? A throwing knife thats decent, on a super that dies when anyone looks at it funny.
Arc staff Block which only blocks other hunter supers, spectral blades which are thankfully pretty good and now this.

This is from a console Perspective, and i main hunter so admittedly i am biased. In pvp i feel like the other classes just have all the good shit compared to hunters, and the second we get something good everyone jumps the "Hunters op require no skill looool" while titans are sliding through whole teams of people and warlocks are effectively flying warships.

  9. This isn't directed at you drew. Titans have been running around with one shot melee's (shoulder charge), even one shot infinite grenades (last season), warlocks have one shot charged grenades (handheld nova), and neither of these require precision damage. Hunters finally get the ability to one shot without needing to crit someone and people want to bitch and moan. Not to mention it requires using a specific subclass + grenade + aspect and needs more setup than the others. It's ridiculous honestly but I'd be perfectly fine with just removing one shot abilities all together if this is how people are gonna react

  10. This video sounds like a hunter main trying to convince the community and Bungie that hunters don't need a warlock like nerf… Shatterdive combo is brain-dead easy to execute, extremely rewarding, and with the right builds spammable every 10 seconds or less… Yeah, it's broken, and really needs to be nerfed. Also, a mid air movement ability that buffs the only issue hunter jump has (it's predictability) while also providing a damage resistance without cooldown? That needs to be looked at aswell…

Yeah, Titan also needs to be looked at. But don't try to spin this as a skillful ability. Shame on you for that…

  11. Here is the main problem with it, IMO. You don't need to aim, like at all. You press jump, throw the grenade at the ground, and press shatterdive. It's far too easy to do. While you do need to land within (kind of) shotgun range, you can initiate it from safety. You can also do it off of a short hop and go from neutral to explosion very quickly (this is also an issue with the behemoth melee, being able to initiate instantly from a standstill).

The icing on the cake is that it's on stasis hunter. Even if we completely ignore every aspect of this move, stasis hunter is extremely strong. The melee is free, the super is not top tier but far from bad, and I'm convinced that winter's shroud was a prank by the devs that accidentally got shipped to the live game. Remember when handheld supernova was good? The rest of nova warp flat out sucked, but one strong ability made the subclass relevant. That is not at all the case with revenant. Everything about the subclass is above average, and most of it is top tier. The frustration with the glacier dive nuke compounds with the frustration of winter's shroud, which compounds with the frustration of mask of bakris, which compounds with the frustration of the super freezing you through walls and around corners…you get the idea. We have never seen one subclass be this stacked and honestly, even if Bungie went the nuclear route to obliterate this combo, revenant hunter would still be top tier. I don't want Bungie to do that, but worst case scenario, stasis hunter still rules the crucible.

  12. I think without fissures it might be mostly fine, but there would still be a few problems:
1: it can be executed incredibly fast, despite the animations not necessarily being that fast. The glacier doesn't even have to fully appear before it shatters.
2: it's hard to punish. The visual of the shattering crystals makes it incredibly hard to see the hunter as they shatter them, so even when I see it coming and am prepared to try to kill them as they land, they can often just leave. Plus, shatterdive gives so much damage resistance that shooting too soon is almost useless.
These two problems make it frustratingly difficult to predict and punish, even when executed poorly.
