How to fix Trials of Osiris | Destiny 2: Beyond Light

Here are my thoughts on how to fix Trials of Osiris and it’s rough state in the current Season of the Splicer in Destiny 2 Beyond Light.

Cheaters are running rampant, the meta game is extremely stale, and the community has been poisoned with the idea that any good players could be a cheater, and ultimately people are turning to cheats to get the loot they want.

  1. love you gleauux, been maining duality cuz of ya
edit: i think you're absolutely right about the dev hotline thing, apex has seen a drop in cheaters since Hideouts lets well known streamers contact him if they're suspicious about a cheater. i think it would help, at least a little

  2. At the very least people should be showered in tokens after matches, win or lose. It’s not like defeating RNG is easy and it would keep them in the playlist for the whole weekend.

  3. I would give the players who get 7 wins with their guaranteed flawless card the adepts n stuff but just have it drop. I think reserving an actual trip to the lighthouse for those who got there not guaranteed would add to the accomplishment instead of like oh, I come here every week

  4. The mental warfare of cheating is ruining all pvp games for me at the moment. Like you said I hate automatically jumping to “he/she is sus”, it kills my desire to improve at any game, not just destiny. Furthermore as someone who used to go flawless pretty regularly in d1 it’s insanity that 3 players in the 1.5-2kd range stand zero chance of going flawless unless the stars align. The game desperately needs more of the player base to engage with the mode.

To sum up I really like everything you put forward, the just need 7 wins for the first flawless would probably double or triple the active players. I know I would play every weekend with clan mates and probably do all 3 characters to boot.

As an aside, pvp issues are clearly not trials alone. Was so pumped to match in a game with you yesterday only to have the match be unplayable due to 3 people on the other team vpn’ing in from China. The game desperately needs packet tracking to weed these people out of matching into NA servers.

  5. This is how you create a feedback video. Not once did I hear you say or even insinuate Bungie is lazy, doesn't care, or is inept like so many content creators. Thank you!

  6. I played Trials of the nine more than i have played Trials of Osiris. Maybe one more flaw IMO Maps. I agree 100% with you have said, but how about with everything you have said and also have map rotation in Trials to shake things up a bit. Great Feedback video

  7. I am certain there will be much more but folks right here an "armchair" dev has fixed Trials for the most part in under three minutes. Let that sink in. What has bungie done to fix trials? If his moves discussed in the first three minutes were implemented the playlist would be saved and yet Bungie has it where it is now. That is how much they honestly care about PVP yet they think they are simply going to sell us a new PVP game instead…

  8. Idk about getting free adept loot. I'm one of the PvE mains you talked about, but I feel like that would cheapen the experience. Maybe give the first 3 rewards though on the unlimited mercy card, and you have to really go flawless for adept loot. Everything else though was pretty agreeable

  9. The 7 wins no losses card is a greet idea.
I also feel like bungie should hire people to watch streams and ban players accordingly, that would significantly reduce the amount of cheaters.

Lots of great ideas, no we just have to pray that Bungie listens to it

  10. As a terrible pvp player I'll tell you, no one besides people who play and like trials will be effected by these changes. The reality is destiny 2 is not a game where anyone can go into pvp and stomp. To many mechanics, to much radar, to much aim assist, to much latency discrepancy, to much character dominance…I can go on for a while.

Trails is dead…the free 3 win reward is not enough incentive to get a large portion of players to even play trials. Literally free, and people are still saying no…

Cheaters and hackers are only a problem for regular trials players. For the average casual pver trying at trials, do you honestly believe they can even tell the differences between a cheater and a 400+time flawless player? Matching up with players who pvp for 10+hours a day and jumping snipe or are moving so fast on hunter they take advantage of the 0.5 second delay between players is not any different than a cheater who has 100% headshots sniping, to me or any casual. Most top tier trials players can't tell without looking at trials reports.

Trials in itself is what these top pvpers wanted. Its a niche mode for a very low % of d2 players. To get more players, more people will have to get good….(fat chance🤡)….or trials will need to be watered down to "control" level with matchmaking, where its basically becomes casual pvp.

Trials has way to many obstacles for a new player, to many restrictions, to much unreliability. There are people who love pvp, but hate trials…not because of the cheating either…trials is for those who love TRIALS. There is no fix for that. I played trials yesterday and even while winning, hated every minute of it. Tolerating that nonsense for solas 3 win felt demoralizing and stupid. Jumpers aren't a population increase either, its an embarrassment and a solution for the biggest week in trials ever, the one where everyone cheated to flawless….

Its up and running, I say enjoy it, cheaters are part of trials, they are part of your player base. Its getting smaller because people don't see what trials players see as fun, enjoyable. Get out the most of the situation. But there is no fixing trials. Its not broken.

  12. I share your frustration on the mental state for this game. I hate how Trials has made this game feel, and how it has made players act whenever Trials of Osiris is brought up. The toxicity on display, probably due to an over-exposure to this negative feedback loop ever since Trials was reintroduced, is draining.

I should preface this by saying that since you didn't ask for feedback, you can ignore the rest of my comment in good conscience.

  13. 4:40 Good Idea but as long as Trials is Free 2 play a majority of cheater and those who cheat blatantly, won't care if their account gets banned if they can just create another the same day. They need to Hardware ban. I can't think of anything else that could work, a paywall won't stop cheater that get payed more to carry flawless also.

  14. Yep trials really only needs those two things.
    1. Anticheat that works
    2. Increased rewards and goals

How or if they will be implemented is a whole other story.

I miss being sniped/killed and not calling sus on a player as well.

  15. 7 wins no losses would kinda take away from the meaning of going flawless, without flaw – since the title flawless is commended by everyone and even good pvp players know that flawless player is not to be messed with in pvp. Even pve players who look at the title really want it but its a title you can't get unless you're good at pvp for example, this is true for most people minus a few who do get recovs/cheats whatever.

So that definitely would take away from the prestige of going flawless, and why some really want to struggle and fight to get there, kinda like playing dark souls, you struggle you struggle but once you do defeat the boss you feel like you've really accomplished something, rather than rely on luck play 50 games and win 7 matches.

However, I do agree that if there's a team of 3 first timers with no flawless, they should never match flawless people during their entire card until the day they go flawless. But with a steam population averaging 700~1k player and still hemorrhaging I don't see how that's possible without making wait times maybe 10-20 minutes long.

  16. I can pretty much agree with everything you talked about, also I did previously end up getting a chest piece for going flawless and that chest piece had a 59 stat roll (it had good distribution) but still, better rewards are definitely needed

  17. I like idea one but I think the free flawless card should only be once per account per week so you really have to decide what character you want that loot on.

  18. LOL…A hotline for "trusted" members of the community…I can see Bungie's gaggle of hotline operators all sitting around a red phone, eyes wide, pupils dilated, just waiting for it go off. BBBRRRRIIINNNNGGG!!!! "Code Red!!…We've got a re-spawner on Rusted Lands!!"

  19. Agreed 100% with everything here. I loved year 1 Trials of the Nine it required teamwork rather than individual skill or busted weapons/armor/abilities. If only a dev could see this and hear you out. Maybe hit up Drewsky/Cammycakes see if they can float this in the right direction

  20. Thank you for mentioning Trials of the Nine. No one that I've watched talked about TotN when talking about Trials fixes. Everyone seem to have forgotten that TotN let you choose your rewards when reaching the milestone wins and had an objective to win. ToO was hyped up because of nostalgia but TotN did it better. Plus, what do we even need to prove to Osiris anyways.
