Destiny 2: Solo Atraks-1 – Beyond Light Raid Boss (Glitchless) | Season of the Hunt

Took me 12 days to get a ricochet weapon, then I got it first try.

Jokes aside (long, detailed description below)
(I know video quality isnt anything amazing but the filesize would have been gigantic otherwise and my internet is awful, sorry)
This was the hardest single challenge I have ever done, nothing got close to it. It took me 12 days of grinding (albeit 5 days I was still working before the holidays so way less time there and I took breaks, but in total it easily took around 100hrs) and man, did I enjoy it. Pretty sure its the hardest (solo) challenge Destiny 2 has to offer at the moment and only few people have gotten it without salvations breach.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?
To keep it simple: This is a raid boss, and therefore you are meant to have 6 people for this. The boss splits in 8 copies and starts the wipe / instakill mechanic after a bit in space first, then ground, then space then ground. You have a scanner and an operator, the scanner is able to tell which copy is the real one (since damaging the wrong one too much instakills your team) and the operator manages the debuffs the boss leaves behind and the droppots. Then its just a passing along of buffs and debuffs so you keep the debuffs off of your teammate before they expire and remove them in the airlocks while scanner calls which copy to damage.
When soloing it becomes infinitely harder.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤?
The solo works by only using operator and shooting all 4 copies with a weapon (that does not do more than 22.000 damage to prevent him from wiping you) until one of the hits moves his health bar. The debuffs can be shot off yourself with ricochet rounds by angling the shots the right way.

The difficulty comes in the insanely small timing-windows you have. It requires near perfection for 10 to 15 minutes, and even then there is literally impossible RNG that can ruin absolutely perfect execution. On the second stun of every cycle the far left copy is not worth checking. You dont have the time and middle + right is a 75% chance compared to a 25% chance on left – which also means that if its far left on second stun you will wipe. On third stun its basically the same, just with back middle OR in my case (if back middle was the correct one on the first stun) the airlock that you cleansed back middle in – that too is a wipe, making second stun a 25% chance and third stun a 33% chance to wipe you with no way to do anything about it. Overall, every cycle has around a 45% chance to be doable, so you really need top tier execution and performance to even *qualify* for a chance.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬…
This challenge bring light to alot of issues the fight has. Debuffs lagging out and not being picked up for 5+ seconds, damage phases lagging out and healing him, elevators bugging out and keeping you stuck for a few seconds, teleporting enemies and server lag… you name it. It was insanely frustrating at times. In a challenge where literally every wasted second can mean one less boss check and therefore your RNG being 25% less likely to even be possible – these things were a real pain.
On top of that you have to manage alot of things at once: Ammo, sword charge (which doesnt recharge when stowed), grenade & super charge for 3rd stun, debuff timers, elevator positions, airlocks, scanner position and servitor position + health… I could go on.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
In conclusion: This challenge is a blast and it requires everything a challenge should require. Good reactions to new situations, good aim, good execution, good knowledge, good micro-management, good control of nerves, good patience… and all of that while you can spend days losing to impossible RNG.
What. A. Challenge.

  1. The single hardest challenge I have ever done. 100+hrs over 12days and a total of 40.000 kills. If you want to know more about it, details are in the description.
This challenge definitely taught me alot. I realized I wasnt very experienced with this kind of difficulty and challenge where you throw yourself at RNG and get disappointed over and over again so my determination was getting weaker after a few days and I wanted to give up, but then I realized it really just is a mindset thing. Once I saw this as practice for patience and approached it as such I got much further, and then it only took a few more days of not giving up. Will definitely remember this challenge for a long, long time lol

  2. Woah!! I was there watching Slayerage with all of his attempts and this whole thing was super cool. Huge respect to you for being able to get this, you always seem to outdo yourself every new video you post, absolutely incredible.
Kinda funny though how the hardest content D2 has to offer is things that Bungie didn't intend to even be possible XD

  3. Best thing to wake up to in the morning. You beating Atraks one after 12 days of this shit. Still shaking from that message, and I literally haven't shook that much in my life. I was in tears. I'm so fucking proud of you I would fly over to Germany and give you a hug if I could. You deserve this after so long. <3

  4. holy-fucking-shit, as a guy who does speeds and challenges on destiny, I was not expecting this. I knew you were an insane player when it came to any game you put your mind to but you exceeded all my expectations. Well done man and I’m excited to see more from you in the future!
