The fast way to get legendary shards for the Destiny 2 Xur is to gain a lot of legendary armor and legendary guns or exotic gear if you have extra. The best place to get legendary engrams and legendary weapons and legendary armors are the destiny 2 nightfall and the destiny 2 raid. The other way to get fast legendary gear and exotic gear for dismantling is to spend planetary tokens and dismantle the resulting legendary guns and legendary armors. Transversive steps is great and all but literally the last three exotics to drop from engrams have only been transversive steps and I never been so tired of looking at a piece of armor in my life
