Variks previously spoke in another accent to deceive the awoken and the guardian (most likely to seem more vulnerable or innocent) when we finally panicked in beyond light, he dropped his accent and stopped with the almost yoda-like riddles. This is why he speaks better English and in a much deeper voice.
