Luke Smith did an interview where he confirmed that Destiny 2 Beyond Light would be smaller than Forsaken but larger than Shadowkeep. Many are now curious if that will make the Beyond Light Expansion too small for the price.

  1. I'm not even sure the structure of loot drops is going to support vendor-specific/themed weapons since they currently only drop items in the world loot pool. They may have done that intentionally, like "we won't be adding Gambit-specific weapons to Drifter's loot pool so you don't have to grind an activity you don't like to get a weapon that's only good in the activity you do like" ala Recluse. It's totally possible that is their conclusion based on our feedback. Does that mean I don't want the obelisk-style vendor menu like we've talked about with weapons specific to that vendor? Heck no.

Tbh, I just can't wait to solve Wish 15 this year :3

  2. I do need to make a price comparison, not for the expansion or season alone, but a yearly price comparison. I have already done the math on a spreadsheet.

Destiny 2 at launch was 59.99 (about 60 dollars), Curse of Osiris and Warmind both $29.99 (about 30 dollars) which comes out to 120 dollars for Year 1
Forsaken was $39.99 (about 40 dollars), The Annual Pass was $29.99 (about 30 dollars) which comes out to 70 dollars for year 2.
Shadowkeep was $39.99 (about 40 dollars (which included Season of the Undying), and the seasons were $9.99 each (about 10 dollars) totaling 30 dollars for the 3 seasons (excluding Season of the Undying), and when combined with the expansion comes out to a total of 70 dollars for year 3.
Beyond Light alone is $39.99 (about 40 dollars). Season fo the Hunt is being sold separately for $9.99 (about 10 dollars) , and i assume that is going to be the cost of each Season for the rest of the year, and assuming that there is going to be 4 seasons, that comes up to 40 dollars for all the seasons. When you add that the cost of Beyond Light, it comes out to a total of 80 dollars for year 4.

That's the highest it's been since before Forsaken. The question is not 'is beyond light big enough for how much we are paying'. The reason question is: the year of Beyond Light is going to be more expensive than the year of Forsaken and the year of Shadowkeep. Is it going to really be worth those 80 dollars; Is Beyond Light and the Seasonal content gonna give us enough content to keep us happy and make us feel like it's was worth the extra money?
