The Q&A that came with my thoughts and theories on the Beyond Light announcement with the Stranger returning and dark subclasses with ice coming to the game. I will admit a lot of this took me by surprise, but it helps with some theories we have been working on.
source
11:20 I actually did see one enemy in the beyond light trailer. At around 1:47 in the reveal, after they cut from the exo stranger, you can see on the pyramid ship just left of center a dark large rank-and-file or orgre type enemy floating towards the left!
I want the veil as a new enemy race for lore reasons most of all
Fun fact: you (anyone, me, The Hamburglar) don't "buy" copyrighted material when you purchase a creative work (games included). You pay for a license to access that copyright material i.e. when you buy a book – you're just paying the paper and the glue. You're not buying the story itself; the author (and perhaps the publisher) owns that work. Bungie gave you access to Destiny 2 through your purchase and can change that access and the content such access entails almost at will.
Question 12 you’re describing stuff like Malfeasance
30:51 There is such a game, called World of Warcraft. Sure, some content was removed, but the main campaign that introduced people to the game was always there. Some quests were removed in Cataclysm but recently they were made available again with classic servers release.
I don't mind removing of planets from live game due to story reasons but Red War and other campaigns should still be playable. It's the core content of original Destiny 2 and some people may want to play that again due to nostalgic reasons.
Maybe they should release the "old content vault" as a standalone offline client or something. They don't have to maintain it at all, just release it exactly as it is now (if it's not possible to release as it was back then) and forget about it.
I rather have a variety in mission type than a new enemy race. I want rescue, sabotage, etc types of missions
If the DCV is suppose to be the GOAT of Destiny, all they need to add is Cosmo and Plaguelands, Venus and Dreadnought with the raids that is it.
"Oh no theyre gonna remove content that i never touch anymore because i have no reason to."
"If I want Bungie to be spending bandwidth on stuff, I want the encounters to be cooler, more diverse… I want new mechanics, layers to the combat…"
Forgive me, but is it not true that most of these objectives can be expressed with a new enemy faction, anyway? I mean, you've essentially described the reasons as to why people want to see a genuinely new faction to fight in game. It's not just the slap-a-new-paint-job on a preexisting faction that the playerbase desires, but essentially a completely new experience that would come along with a new race.
Designing a new race that would be a perfect testing ground for new encounters, wouldn't be "throwing away bandwidth" it would be knocking out two birds with one stone.
A new race would be:
-Creating new mechanics and encounters in-game
-Expanding the depth of the sandbox and potentially what you can do or have to do in it to survive.
-Creating possibilities to expand the story and/or solidify the lore with a way to experience it within the gameplay loop instead of just reading it.
The question is: Is it technologically feasible or practical? I don't really know, but if they are building a new engine or retooling and revising the current one, that could mean huge steps towards making it possible regardless of what the technical state of the game is now.
I’m hoping that the customization of subclasses is like the trees but instead you can mix and match different perks together from all the trees. For example, a melee based perk of the ball of lightning and then two passive perks and then a super based perk like teleport in stormtrance or you can mix and match things with chaos reach.
At 13:10, for the question about new enemy race. Agreed new enemy race is dumb and doesn't make sense lore wise. However, we ARE getting new enemy pieces for the fallen (siva node fallen, mini-insurection prime walker) and maybe more for the vex.
By the way, about the Rocket Launcher mod, It give a 20% damage buff on Impact/Explosion and can stack. The description is confusing but the mod is good. How the mod work is, you get a buff until the rocket hit the target, after being hit, it consume one stack of "Charge of light". As said, it can stack like every solar mod which mean, Damages wise, it goes from 26625 (0mod) -> 31950 (1mod/20%) -> 33281 (2mods/25%) -> 35944 (3mods/35%) and sry i cant test for 4 mods but i'am sure it would increase it's damage even more. Hope it help everyone!
The Scorn are undead fallen.
The scorn are the exact same concept as the taken and SIVA, that’s why people say they aren’t new. Some bad guy grabs existing enemies and morphs them into something different. When we say we want something new we mean we want a different inhabitant of the universe. Something else that isn’t using the same models that we already have. Also I’d like to see a behavioral change in the Fallen, at this point they should be viewing us as “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” the Doritos want to destroy the Traveler, the Fallen want it for themselves so fighting against us right now isn’t in their best interests. Not saying they should team up with us but at the very least they should get out of our way if not help.
I'd wager that having bounties be attached to the season they were completed in is a harder endeavor than most people think. They would have to associate each seasons bounties with that season alone whereas no they are just generalized across all seasons. Just a thought.
I don't mind them removing and adding content, but a few statements should be addressed… A 60 dollar season pass is not peanuts… 60 + 60 +60 so far without eververse 180 min spent by me. That's not peanuts.r I was against fomo when you first addressed fomo and I knew that would cause a problem for me. As long as they find a way to make it work without fomo im good.
Warframe took away raids even though no one wanted them to. I miss Law Of Retribution 😢
You've somewhat changed my mind on needed a new enemy race. You're right its a lot of effort for the marginal value of shooting enemies in a slightly different spot in combat. However, the one thing an expansion absolutely needs is a feeling newness. I like to compare this feeling to seeing weapon perks doing its effect. You can see outlaw working which is why its satisfying to have, when your shooting a new enemy it feels like a new expansion. A lot of Shadowkeep didn't feel new because it was set on a spruced up version of the moon with the same enemies which ended up not feeling too different. Sure armor was re-tuned and felt different but it wasn't enough, for me at least, to feel like I've entered a new expansion.
A new enemy race would definitely aid the feeling of a new expansion but its definitely not the only thing that can do it. A new exporable area can definitely give a feeling of newness as long as its big enough. As long as Europa is extremely unique and a fun new area then I don't see a need for a new enemy race.
I know feelings are subjective and harder to quantify than new activities. But its not something that should be ignored for new expansions.
I'm always down for more Magic Sword, I say keep jamming it
how to improve leveling without taking away from the proudness of being max level: make the grind to power cap lineal, just levels on its own, and make the pinnacle cap a harder thing to achieve, take out pinnacles from strikes gambit and crucible
The raids that are getting sunset will all have sunset gear in them come sept. Probably why they’re going away for now.
Was jamming out to magic to the music in the back ground… what is this? Oh this is magic sword cool. 30 seconds later…
Lono: I have to turn this off.
I'll be back I have to listen to some music now.
Why do i get the impression Lono listened to Freak on a Leash by Korn on repeat back in highschool
Decouple powerful/pinnacle rewards from milestones and characters, and take the max amount you'd normally have earned that way. Then, allow people to play the activities they like to earn the power and pinnacle gear they want.
You'd get powerfuls for every or every other activity completion, and have pinnacles after raid bosses/lighthouse visits/several regular completions (pvp or pve). But since you dont need to do specific things, you can "play your way" with or without friends
I just hope at least some of the past mods become universal. I know powerful friends and maybe the protective darkness one are "too strong," but it kinda sucks taking away a lot of the cool build diversity. Especially since this season is still going with the "charged with light" theme.
Yeah I dont care for vog coming back kings fall would be dope tho
As soon as you explained your theory on " a new engine " I immediately got hyped at that possibility, maybe even the graphics will be improved with ray tracing, error codes reduced, and so on.
We are so overdue for a new engine especially with next gen coming out, regardless, if its not a new engine it will be a heavily improved version of the current engine.
No…..I want the Veil….period. It's been 7 fucking years and finally seeing the Veil was what I was most looking forward to. Sorry but the Scorn and the Taken aren't a new race, they're just reskins with some mechanics. A completely new race would use new powers, stasis, or something else. The Anon leaks said they would disable our light. Bungie can make a new race with completely new mechanics that are vastly different than what we got. Completely new races would have a lot of different variations in enemy types. We don't want just any new race, we want the Veil, or Darkness, to make the threat feel much bigger and make it feel like we are in a new era. With a new element coming a new race that exclusively uses that element would feel different enough to justify the development time. I'm afraid that when Bungie left Activision and dismantled D3, most of the things that Anon the 9 leaked got scrapped so D3 could be dumbed down and added into D2. They dropped the mush more hardcore focused game they were making with new races and abilities. As for the Scorn I would like to see them implemented in other places in the game but truthfully they aren't as different from the Fallen as say Cabal or Vex are. The Veil would be as different as Vex are from the Cabal or even more so since they use the new element. It can be done in a way that feels significant unlike the Scorn who feel like they were thrown into the game with little thought put into them. The Veil have like 10 years of thought since they were in the og concept art. Anyway I hope all the hard and awesome work that was built for D3 wasn't scrapped so they could throw crappy dumbed down pieces of it into D2 over 3 years(also it's now $120 over 3 years instead of $60 up front for all of it lol) so Bungie can focus on it's new IP, Matter, that isn't appealing to their current hardcore Destiny fans. I don't wanna play a hand 2 hand combat dungeon crawling loot game, I would be playing Diablo or other similar games if I liked that, we want mmo light fps loot games with Bungies movement mechanics. Hopfully Bungie let's another studio take over Destiny while they just publish it and act like an Activision and build their other dumb game. Don't let Destiny die. Hell if they don't want to just sell it like Halo so we aren't in a world with nothing to play in 3 years. Destiny is all I play, and all I WANT to play so without it I feel I would have nothing at all to play.
Witherhorn is NOT destroying pvp lol. It's actually terrible in pvp since it takes so long to kill ppl so all you gotta do is move a couple steps. Also it has such a slow velocity when you see it coming you just sidestep it. In comp the other team all had it, and were unbroken, and 2 of us went undefeated because it sucks so bad lol. They didn't get a single kill with that thing the entire game.
They can't sunset exotics cause if they did we would have MASSIVE holes in all loadouts. The armor specifically. And the exotics from D1 that came over are needed exotics that can't be replaced. Hell of rigs and stompees go away hunters will feel terrible to play. We need those specific exotics that just work well whenever you wanna be effective and do well without trying to play a specific way.
In regards to what you mentioned about moving 140 rpm HC's into the Lightweight frame class, I'm not sure if that lines up with how Bungie like to fix and rebalance their weapons.
They could try down-converting all 140s to 150 rpm, but now everyone would only have lightweight HC's and it would hurt Frame type diversity and upset the player base… unless the other Frame types receive changes alongside this to make each of them have a more established identity.
Bungie has a long-standing track record of not wanting to take anything out of the game entirely unless something new is being introduced to fill the void, or at the very least another item/perk is
pulled from somewhere else in the game to gap-fill.
Bungie could go the route of converting all 180's from the "Precision Frame" to the "Rapid-Fire Frame" type, which inherently gives them more ammo in reserve and a faster reload when empty as well as give them a slight Mag size bump to help address the disparity of damage output to mag size. Alongside that, the Devs could also change the rpm of the 150s to 160rpm and downscale their Damage slightly to make them a less appealing option against High resilience players/High-Health combatants, and add more value to your resilience stat.
On the whole, there are a ton of methods Bungie could use to go about this, but I don't think they would straight-up remove the archetype entirely and shovel all the 140s into the "Lightweight Frame" type, that's never been their MO.
Regarding question 8, this is from the info article that got released last week: "There will be new ways to earn the Exotics originally linked to content that has entered the DCV."
Bungie bring back the post game rewards screen!!! Edit* The raids cannot have world first raced because everyone that played D1 knows the mechanics.
I play a good amount but the leveling makes me give up on the season before I can get to the point where I go for a build and armor. By time I get to level I just don’t care anymore I know I can save the armor I get but it’s lower level so I just get rid of it because I don’t have the resources
Music was a little intense lol.
This man turned into Gordon Ramsey when talking about recluse and mt: Its F*in RAW
lol love u lono
the leveling is part of any rpg or mmo imo BUT, i would prefer that the seasonal activity is at a lower power level for everyone and maybe a legendary version like sundial got if ots a matchmade activity and that activity can have higher power requirement
Power leveling works for the fall expansions but for seasons it’s not necessary. I ended up AFK farming because of the leveling just to play the dungeon before it is temporarily removed.
Depending who u ask literally all 4 d1 raids are "greatest hits" I perfer VOG and Crota however I'm aware wrath and kings fall are highly regarded as the best and wrath is loved by alot of the community
They day they bring WotM back is going to be a joyous day for me. It's the only Raid I never got to beat on hard mode in D1. And is the only achievement I don't have through the whole series. It haunts me to this day. lol
I paid for the content and I should keep it. I don't care if it's free to play now I still paid for it. You say I paid for Destiny 2 and not the unlimited access to destinations, therefore all future content should be free for me because I paid for Destiny 2 at launch. I pay each year $70 for the expansion and season pass content. That is not paying "peanuts" as you say.
That music shit was going CRAZY haha
I wanted to clarify something I personally think about. Those who are arguing about having the year 1 planets removed cause they spendt 60/70$ on it are the same that were hyped by every new map change in fortnite but that was okay since the game was free, that's how I see it at last
