If you get a ps5 you gotta play man its about to get very interesting with beyond light. Darkness is calling and we will paint it black.
The game has become much better. The shady stuff at launch was due to Activion, the publisher, but Bungie has since split from them and has improved the game
The base game is free but honestly I would recommend getting getting either Forsaken (the first and best DLC) along with it because the base game is cool, but definitely doesn't show what Destiny 2 is at it's best.

Destiny 2 is free and on all next gen consoles should pick it up if you’re into epicness
as an avid Destiny fan and player that played Destiny 1 I can say destiny 2 is very good and the direction they are leading the story is, in my opinion, very interesting and from what I've seen well received and hyped by the community. also you asked if its available on everything. this is copy and pasted from an article on the verge, "As part of that commitment to supporting Destiny 2 on both current-generation and next-gen consoles, Bungie has also announced that current Destiny 2 owners on PS4 and Xbox One will get free upgrades to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game for all existing content." its also available on pc but, on xbox one and ps4 its fps is capped at 30 fps whereas with the higher specs of ps5 and series X it will be capped at 60 fps. I'm a pc player myself but figured you'd want to know those details.
It is coming on all consoles and pc, also there will be a next gen update for ps5 and xbox series X/S coming in december.
If u buy on ps4,you get the ps5 update free.
Same thing on xbox , if u buy it there u get xbox series X/S version free.
Also all the expansions are availabe on a game pass subscribtion on xbox, but seasons aren't included.
They no longer make exclusive content for playstation after thier split with activision.

Destiny 2 the base game is free for Xbox, Playstation, and PC. Its large DLCs; Foresaken, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light can be purchased individually or are included free with Xbox game pass.
