Destiny 2: Beyond Light – Exo Stranger Talks About How Clovis Bray Was Manipulated By The Darkness

This dialogue is from the new Glassway Strike on Europa. From my experience playing this strike, this dialogue doesn’t always occur for everyone and I have received other variations from the Exo Stranger that were less informative and frankly, not as interesting as the dialogue I got during this run with my friends. Also, the dialogue I received in this video actually has the Exo Stranger revealing her true identity to us and formally introducing herself to us as Elsie or Elisabeth Bray! I love Elsie Bray so much and her character is genuinely interesting. The Bray Family’s dark story and legacy continue through the Exo Stranger, or as she would have us address her: Elisabeth Bray.

The lore story significance goes as follows:

She explains how her Grandfather, Clovis Bray I was lured to Europa by the Darkness which he called “Clarity Control” or “CLARITY”. He used this “Clarity” to help him create the Exo which he did in a desperate attempt to save himself from his dying, deteriorating body because he was afflicted with a disease that he called the “Clovis Curse” which has been genetically inherited by other members of the Bray Family such as Elsie Bray (aka the Exo Stranger). He desired eternal life and wanted to become the “LUCA” (the Last Universal Common Ancestor) for humanity. Eventually, he built a Vex portal to the Vex’s home world on Europa (which can be seen at the end of the strike in the final boss room). He used the Vex and The Darkness to make the Exos to save himself from the inevitable, encroaching grasp of death. In the process, he released and brought the Vex to Europa which led to the deaths of thousands of on-site staff and the colonists stationed on Europa. Once again, Clovis Bray’s ambition and ego led to a disaster that would claim the lives of many innocent people. Clovis claimed he did it all in service of “The Bray Name” and “Research”. (Bare in mind much of this lore was provided by the Collector’s Edition of Beyond Light, which this strike expands upon through Elsie’s exposition)
