  2. I left D2 after Beyond Light. I was (and still am) burned out on the seasonal content / “game as a service” design model. Regardless of how “a’ la carte” Bungie claims the game is structured, I found it increasingly hard to come and go from the game and maintain a coherent narrative. I quickly became disconnected from universe’s arch. I was also frustrated that practically, it amounts to $100 annually (along with near daily play) to stay current with it.

    I still love the worlds, lore, classes, and gunplay of Destiny. My best video gaming experiences have come through playing Destiny. It’s just not a game that I can practically play casually. If Bungie were to return to the game’s original publishing format of annual expansions (as in D1 and D2 years 1-3), I would happily return.
