Battlegrounds are the seasonal activity for Season 13, Season of the Chosen. In the Battlegrounds activity, you battle Cabal forces and complete some objectives before facing one of Empress Caiatl’s commanders. This is the Battleground: Foothold (formerly Cleansing) activity, located on Earth’s Cosmodrome, and the final boss is Val Ma’rag. The Power level for this Battleground when selecting this one from the destination is 1210, but if playing from the Vanguard playlist, it is 1200 with Champions, and chests also appear at the end that can be smashed with a charged Hammer of Proving.
In the hotfix on March 2, 2021, this Battleground, which was previously known as Cleansing, was renamed to Foothold.
