  1. Destiny's naming convention just sucks. Using all these "The ___" names just makes everything, and therefore nothing, seem like the most important thing ever. The Light, The Darkness, The Witness, The Traveler, The Witch, The Taken King, The The The The The The. How about you just name it an actual noun, like Jehova, Allah, Satan, Shiva, Osiris, etc. Everything about this setting seems so grandiose and up its own ass, why should I even care?

  2. Been playing since d1 here's my truth. For a while I felt like ihe. An some point in the past year I looked at the gaming landscape and shrugged my shoulders and said at least destiny has content. Like ihe said the war on mxts has long been lost. Everyone has there abusive mom of a game. I chose to embrace the grind. I chose destiny. Eyes up guardian

  3. I don't know why would I ever give Bungie any money ever again considering they can at any point take away everything I purchased so far. They are arguably worse than they were with Activision.

  4. I swear, every time one of these is uploaded it's like a huge event.

I begrudgingly returned to Destiny back in Season of the Lost last October at my friend's behest. I had jumped off the train all the way back when D2 launched because I seriously looked at the where the game was going and decided I needed to get out. I have a terribly addictive personality as well and knew that if I didn't cut myself off I'd sink farther into the mire. At launch, I played the terrible Red War campaign and then did the Leviathan raid once, and uninstalled the game. But I was unfortunately convinced to come back and once again my addiction was being fed. I blasted through Forsaken (before it got yoinked…), then Shadowkeep and Beyond Light, and did the seasonal content RELIGIOUSLY. I was honestly pretty pumped for WQ, and when it dropped I genuinely enjoyed it. It was an improvement in every way to everything Destiny's had to offer to this point. But then I started to delve into the seasonal content again and I realized that I needed to escape it again. To sum it up, I'm simply too busy to get any meaningful amount of reward from playing Destiny.

I'll be taking my leave once again. Farewell, Destiny.

  5. I mostly hate destiny because it demands you to play it instead of just being there and getting bigger while your gone.
If I played destiny as much as the game wanted me to then I would have missed out on so many other game’s.

  6. I feel so disgusted that this was the same company that made halo. I played a bit of the first destiny and immediately hated it and if I ever went back to it it was because of friends who wanted to play it. The way it was written it's clear the developers didn't have an actual story but only kernels of one that loosely fit together with characters constantly saying tripe such as "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain…". If this game franchise had a better developer people who actually had a passion for this idea it could have been groundbreaking the issue to me is bungi only seems to care about monetization…

  7. Not far into the video yet, but as you asked I can attest to being one of those "FREE" players around the time the previous expansion came out. I'm not an MMO player and never really played many games of this online looter shooter style, but I HAVE finished just about everything there was to do in the Division 2 and absolutely love that game. I thought Destiny would be a similar concept in a different world. It… was not. New player experience in Destiny 2 is completely incomprehensible. The game just spaffs out menus, currencies, items, maps, missions, story (?) and all sorts of crap at you in one go. In my 5 odd hours of playing the thing, I did a number of missions along with a mate – but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why we did them, who we were fighting, what anything actually was or even what level we were. I THINK we were thrown in to the top level that players before would have reached after finishing the base game… if thats a thing (sort of analogue to Division 2's level 30, before the gear score kicks in – to those who played that game), but I can't be certain.

Long story short, the barrier for entry as a new player was too high for me and my mates. Sure we could spend a bunch of time researching what everything was and where we were and what to do… but why? The gameplay we found wasn't worth that time investment. Not even close. In comparison, Division 2 (and I only use that game because its the one I know) gradually introduces new players into the game through its campaign and world tier shifts. It all felt organic even when I entered the game late in its life span. Destiny 2, we couldn't even figure out how to find the campaign to try and see if we could gradually enter the world. Without a guide (human or written) and a certain level of contempt towards the story fluff Destiny 2 has to offer, being a Free player is basically pointless.

  8. As a casual player once, I played destiny 2 for a good few months and still have no idea about anything going on or why these guys are fighting these guys etc etc

  9. What pushed me away, was the sunsetting of paid content and the "forever catch-up"

Core gameplay was fun, but I quit a year and a half ago. The constant grind with no room for any fun for the sake of it was just disappointing.

It just has a constant undertone of "you're here forever, pay me" and I quit

  10. This latest Destiny 2 Showcase was the first time I didn't feel any sort of hype for what was to come next, just exhaustion when they said "We're not slowing down". I've really enjoyed the story over the last year but I don't think it's worth the $100+ dollars every year, and more importantly, the time when the previous year's content is taken away yet again

  11. I stopped playing destiny about a couple months after witch queen came out. I suddenly realized how formulaic and repetitive it was. and every couple months, the whole meta changes and loadouts and strategies that where god tier before are now dog shit. so you have to start the grind all over again, but everything you have to do to level up is the same as before but looks different. eg – pick up the ball and throw it over there, or stand here and kills ads for a while.
a couple weeks ago I was feeling nostalgic and went back to play for about 4-5 hours. I barely advanced in the story and spent most of the time trying to figure out the new solar subclasses and how the leviathan works. been playing destiny for 6 years and I was so lost. really made me realize how much and how ofter this game changes. I love raids, but it takes way too much time and effort just to get ready to play them. and it's getting increasingly difficult to find competent players. then once you've figure everything out, a new season drops, and you're back at square one no matter if you're a pro or a noob.
I just can't take it anymore. I am finally done.

  12. Destiny is not a game, it’s a lifestyle. It takes commitment both financial (cuz the monetisation is maddening) and time to get into. It is DEFINITELY rewarding for the right people and I would recommend people give it a chance but only really bite into it if it’s a game you know you’ll keep coming back to, otherwise it’s not worth your time, especially with how uneasy a ‘live service’ is.
